We provide a rapid turnaround Brookfield viscosity testing service for your samples. On receipt of your samples we will:
- Select the appropriate instrument torque range/model (e.g. LV RV, HB etc) for your samples
- Condition your samples to the requested temperature
- Perform our tests using best practice on calibrated equipment
- Provide a report or certificate of analysis stating viscosity measurements in units of centipoise (cP) or milliPascal seconds (mPa.s).
- Provide a Teams results presentation and answer any questions you may have.
All our reports include full results, information on test methods and observations. We also provide full Q&A support after testing. Our goal is to ensure you are 100% satisfied and can make full use of our report for your needs.

The Brookfield viscometer for liquids and semisolid viscosity measurements
The most common viscometers in the world are those made by Brookfield Engineering. Brookfield viscometers are often considered as an industry standard, ubiquitous in labs globally. They are, in rheometry, as genericized as Hoover or Sellotape are in their fields.
Brookfield viscosity is the viscosity of a material measured by a Brookfield viscometer. Measuring Brookfield Viscosity is simple, yet masks the complex science behind its measurement. Consequently, it can make it difficult to identify which method to use for your sample. Our deep understanding of rheology enables us to provide reliable and accurate results.
We have a wide range of Brookfield viscometers, accessories and attachments. The setting and measurement conditions will affect the variability of the results. Thus it is important to register these as a critical part of the reported results.
In our completed report we provide:
- Viscometer and Model Number
- Torque
- Spindle size
- Spindle type
- Speed
- Temperature
- Container size and fill
- Measurement time & duration
- Pre-conditioning steps
- Sample preparation methods
We follow standard methods, but also understand when it is necessary to adapt protocol to enable accurate readings.
Equipment for measuring Brookfield Viscosity
Our equipment includes RV and LV Brookfield viscometers, with a range of spindles and accessories. This includes specialist spindles for difficult to measure materials such as slurries, thickening compounds and materials with a heavy sediment concentrate.
Our lab can test small samples (5-10ml) in a specially adapted small sample system. In addition, we have the newer and more sophisticated RS-CPS+ cone & plate viscometers and the RS-SST viscometer to test soft solids.
Our Director, Neil Cunningham, developed the latter viscometer with Brookfield to enable rheometry testing of previouslydifficult to test samples.
Fast Viscosity & Rheology Testing
Our lab can provide results in 36-72 hours depending on volume and complexity of testing. Our lab lives in the real world where industrial and practical realities exist. Please get in touch if you need any help or to discuss your Brookfield Viscosity needs.
